Once again in our Diocese, every parish is asked to contribute to the “Partners in Charity” fundraising campaign which assists 27 diocesan agencies, ministries and programs. These efforts officially begin next week in our parish.
When I was a kid growing up in Spencer, some moms and dads from the neighborhood would walk from door to door gathering donations for this same cause. Remember those days? It was called “The Bishop’s Fund” back then.
Although a few things have changed over the decades regarding the name of the campaign, and how one may now give (online, by text, by phone, and by weekend collection basket), the need to fund these important agencies, ministries and programs that help thousands of souls throughout the diocese each year steadily continues.
Your generosity to this program back in the late ‘90s made it possible for me to earn my Theology degree from St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore to prepare for priestly ordination. The same hold true for Fr. Thiago’s studies in English in the U.S. and his completion of seminary in Baltimore.
Examples of other ministries include the Respect Life Office, Catholic Charities, Campus Ministry, Youth Ministry, and the Office of Marriage and Family.
Our parish goal last year was $38,000. We raised 57% of that goal, or $21,479 – which the highest percentage of our goal raised in 5 years! Thank you! From 2020 to 2023, the percentages have been 41%, 44%, 51% and 52%.
Our parish goal remains the same this year at $38,000. Thank you, in advance, for making as generous as a gift as you can to this annual fundraiser for the Diocese of Worcester’s 27 agencies.
Fr. Thiago and I thank you for your extraordinary generosity in the past that helped us reach our very happy days of ordination, and we thank you in advance, for your future generosity that will touch many lives in our Diocese.
