Dear Friends,
It was wonderful to see so many people come to the Pasta Dinner last Saturday! Thanks to all those who worked to make it an enjoyable evening. The food was delicious and the desserts were very special, indeed. There seemed to be well over 120 dinners as well as others who took their supper home to enjoy it there. The Women’s Club will continue to sell their homemade Apple Crisp over the coming weeks so be on the lookout for that.
What was most telling, I believe, at the Pasta Dinner is the desire and need for people to be together. As Christians, we cannot live without our community of believers, our family of faith, and be who we claim to be. Our community of faith is intended to be the bedrock on which we stand to proclaim the Good News. Some folks expressed concern about future events. Will they still be held? What kind of events can we do? More importantly, who is going to do them? In most organizations, church or otherwise, it is said that 20% of the people do the majority of the work. Do you think that's true here at IC?
Every group of people that is mission oriented, like a parish, every so often needs to do a little soul searching and renew itself by reexamining its sense of purpose. Remember, every little bit helps, or as one friend of mine would say, “It's the sum of the parts that makes the whole.”
Have a great week.
Peace,
Fr. Michael
